Peer Review Process

Publication of articles in Jurnal Rekayasa Sipil (JRS) depends solely on scientific validity and coherence as judged by our editors and/or peer reviewers, who will also assess whether the writing is comprehensible and whether the work is useful to the field. JRS acknowledged the effort and suggestions made by its reviewers.

Initial evaluation of manuscripts

The editor will first evaluate all submitted manuscripts. Those rejected at this stage are insufficiently original, have serious scientific flaws, or are outside the aims and scope of the JRS. Those that meet the minimum criteria are passed on to experts for review.

Type of peer review

Submitted manuscripts will generally be reviewed by at least two to three experts who will be asked to evaluate whether the manuscript is scientifically sound and coherent, whether it duplicates the already published works, and whether or not the manuscript is sufficiently clear for publication. The peer-review type is a double-blind peer review.

Review reports

Reviewers are asked to evaluate whether the manuscript:

  • It is original by stating the objectives and gap clearly
  • Is methodologically sound
  • Follows appropriate ethical guidelines
  • Has results/findings which are clearly presented and support the conclusions
  • Correctly references previous relevant work
  • Reviewers are not expected to correct or copyedit manuscripts. Language correction is not part of the peer review process.

Decision

Reviewers advise the editor, responsible for the final decision to accept or reject the article. The Editors will reach a decision based on these reports and, where necessary, will consult with Editorial Board members. Editor's decision is final.

If you are not currently a reviewer for JRS but would like to be added to the list of reviewers, please contact us. The benefits of reviewing for JRS include seeing and evaluating the latest work in related research areas early and being acknowledged in our list of reviewers. You may also be able to cite your work for JRS as part of your professional development requirements.

Publication Frequency

Jurnal Rekayasa Sipil (JRS-Unand) starts in 2020 publishes three editions in a year, in March, July, and Desember. JRS-Unand publishes 6-10 articles in each edition with 8-14 pages long for each article.

Journal History

'Jurnal Rekayasa Sipil' translated as Civil Engineering Journal, is a scholarly periodical that published by Civil Engineering Departement, Faculty of Engineering, Andalas University (Unand), Padang, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The journal, abbreviated as JRS-Unand, covers recent topics in civil engineering as stated in its focus and scope. First issue was published, in printed form, in February 2005. The journal was initially published every February and October each year.

Chronological history

2017 : accredited Sinta 5.

2019 : the journal is published every May and November.

2019 : Accredited Sinta 3, starts from 14(2)-2018 edition.

2020 : Published 3 times in a year: March, July, and December.
